New Year’s Party

From 8pm-1am, about 35 festive people celebrated the coming of a new year at Living Word Church.  In L’viv (and throughout Ukraine), New Year’s is the biggest holiday of the year and it is generally expected that it should be observed with great fun and celebration.  Rhonda was determined to make this party, but when the time came, her broken foot was still not up to par, and she was unable to be there, but everyone was so grateful for all the time she had put into planning such a fun party.  The whole church misses her greatly and is anxious for her return!

The party was a “Hat Extravaganza” and many chose to come in crazy, beautiful, or fun hats.

Krista, our daughter, won the most votes at the party for having the best hat.

What would a party be without food?!

Our daughter, Bria, put together a makeshift photobooth, taking 4 pictures at a time of people…

…and putting them together later into sets for them. It was a big hit!

One of the games played was called “Decorate Your Snowman”.

The complete snowmen.

The snowman props brought entertainment to the kids for the rest of the night.

Pastor Mark delivered a short message, after which we had a time of prayer, as 2011 came to a close.

As midnight approached, everyone headed outside with sparklers in hand.

Amidst our joy at the arrival of 2012, large snowflakes began falling from the sky and fell heavily for about 10 minutes, stopping as we headed back inside.

Our prayer in 2012 is that Living Word Church will become a brighter light in this city for the glory of our King, as we love Him with more of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
